There are four (4) categories of programmes and courses we deliver to employees.

Employee Volunteerism and Community Outreach

Highlights

Kenanga Group was presented the prestigious CSR Award 2018 (Investment Bank category) by CSR Malaysia. The Award is endorsed by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development.

We were awarded the coveted CSR Award for the Investment Bank category by CSR Malaysia in July 2018 for our #GreenAtWork campaign. The award served as a platform to celebrate outstanding achievers and inspiring corporations for their efforts to create a better Malaysia through their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

We are encouraged by this award and are committed to bringing continuous positive and meaningful change to the communities in which we operate and stakeholders with whom we engage.

KENANGA WISHING TREE – “GIFT AN ANG POW, SHARE YOUR BLESSING”

In 2018, Kenanga Wishing Tree Project was held from 7 to 21 February in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration. Red packets or Ang Pow, accompanied by personalised written messages were contributed by our employees for the children of Rumah Hope, a home for underprivileged and abused children.

Approximately RM5,000 was raised and donated to Rumah Hope. Each child received an Ang Pow during the festive season.

MOVIE SCREENING FOR CHILDREN OF AN-NAJJAH

In conjunction with Hari Raya, a donation drive was held in June 2018 to raise funds for children of Pusat Jagaan Anak Yatim An-Najjah. Approximately RM4,000 was raised to treat forty-five (45) children and their caretakers to a movie screening of ‘The Incredibles 2’.

They were also treated to lunch and given limited edition ‘The Incredibles 2’ merchandise. The outings were divided into two (2) sessions: one (1) on 26 June 2018 and the other on 7 July 2018. Our employees also volunteered to take part in these sessions to assist and interact with the children.

THE EDGE KL RAT RACE

Together with other corporate players, we also took part in The Edge KL Rat Race 2018, which raised a total of RM1.42 million. Funds raised from the eighteenth (18th) edition of this charity event were disbursed through The Edge Education Foundation (“the Foundation”), the philanthropic arm of The Edge.

Since 2014, Rat Race funds have supported projects or programmes related to education, training and skills development in line with the Foundation’s educational focus. A portion of the money will also fund English and financial literacy programmes run by the Foundation as well as, a small scholarship programme.

THE BURSA BULL CHARGE 2018

Organised by Bursa Malaysia, the Bursa Bull Charge brings capital market players together for a charity run. We continue to support this annual event with a team of runners since its inception in 2014.

The annual event aims to raise awareness and promote financial literacy and social entrepreneurship while improving the lives of the underprivileged communities. Yayasan Bursa Malaysia has handled the disbursement of over RM7 million since Bursa Bull Charge over the years and has since benefited more than one hundred and twenty (120) deserving beneficiaries.

CONCERT IN THE DARK

Dialogue in the Dark (“DID”) operated by DID MY Academy Sdn Bhd is a social enterprise that aims to elevate the lives of the visually-impaired by equipping children, youths and adults with all the relevant skills needed to be empowered and attain self-sufficiency. We have been supporting DID in various fund-raising activities since its inception in 2012.

On 13 October 2018, DID hosted Concert in the Dark. Participants were invited to enjoy great music with interaction. Our employees with their family members and clients were invited to this concert.

TENGKU NOOR ZAKIAH STAFF OUTREACH FUN

Tengku Noor Zakiah Staff Outreach Fund (“the Fund”) aims to provide our employees and their family members, with financial assistance in times of need. The Fund has helped many of our colleagues and their families who have experienced disasters or tragedies. In 2018, the Fund provided cash aid to three (3) employees for the treatment of critical illnesses.

Approximately RM50,000 was raised via a jumble sale held from 2 to 4 October at Kenanga Tower. Its proceeds were channelled to the Fund.

#GIVEBLOOD

A blood donation campaign which was conducted in May and August attracted a total of two hundred and fourteen (214) donors. Blood donation helps the needy during disasters, as well as, those undergoing surgery, fighting cancer and giving birth.

Financial Literacy

We continue to promote financial literacy through various avenues from workshops, roadshows, exhibitions, seminars to webinars. Subjects range from market outlook, product launches, and workshops for novice traders, to sessions on technical analysis for the more seasoned investors

Throughout the year, these sessions are held in various geographical locations nationwide to tailor to our growing client base and the investing public at large. Some of the targeted on-ground engagement sites included universities, malls and corporate offices.
